The Saint Louis Band
Between 2010-2017, Shimabuku was the Band Director of the Saint Louis School Middle School and High School Band Program in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Under his direction, the band played a broad selection of music, ranging from Concert/Fantasy to Holiday Music, Marches, Jazz, RnB, Rock, Pop, Latin, Funk, Drumline, Hip Hop and much more.
They kept a busy schedule with up to 30+ performances a year, marching in parades, playing at school football games at Aloha Stadium, pep rallies, assemblies, Parade of Bands competitions, community functions, fundraisers, local shopping centers, brother/sister schools, and charity and alumni events.
Shimabuku taught music theory, created lesson plans, administered testing and grading methods, orchestrated events, ran rehearsals and Band Boosters meetings, conducted, played and taught each band instrument, working with over 100 students (grades 6-12) each year.
